Our hearts go out to the many victims of the destruction caused by the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma. When disaster strikes, it’s imperative that we come together to support those in need. Please consider contributing to the relief efforts in any way possible. Read the American Red Cross’s official statement regarding the Oklahoma disaster to learn more about how to do so.

We also can’t forget the lives of our pets and animals in times such as this. Many reports are being shared regarding the loss of animal life and rescue efforts. Please visit the Moore  Oklahoma Tornado Lost and Found Animals Facebook page and read this article to learn more about animals in need due to this disaster.

It’s also important to remember that we can take measures to be as prepared as possible before disaster strikes, in particular by planning for the care of our pets in emergencies. The ASPCA offers steps to take to prepare your home and pets for safety in the event of a disaster. You can order a free emergency pet alert sticker from their website to help alert first responders that pets live in your home and may need assistance. The Humane Society of the United States suggests creating a disaster plan for pets and lists steps to do so on their website. They also list items to include in pet emergency kits.

We at the Brave Tide Foundation are keeping the Oklahoma tornado victims, first responders, and volunteers in our thoughts and prayers.
